Hello, my name is Sherry Wheeler and I am so happy to be part of the ACS family.  I will be teaching reading and social studies to second and third grade students. While I am new to ACS, I am not new to teaching. I have 26 years of experience teaching first, second, and third grades. My first 4 years of teaching were at West Columbia Elementary and the past 22 years were at Danbury Elementary School.

 

My parents moved to Danbury when I was 11 years old. I later graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on reading instruction.

 

I am married to the love of my life, Mike. My son, Coltin graduated from Danbury High School in 2020. He attends Texas Tech in Lubbock, majoring in Business and Finance. I am so proud of him!

 

I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was 8 years old. We lived in Saudi Arabia at that time and I was baptized in the Arabian Gulf. Mike, Coltin, and I attend Community Baptist Church in Danbury.

 

I enjoy spending time with my family and my goldendoodle, Willie.  He is still in the puppy stage. I also enjoy reading, kayaking, walking, and relaxing outdoors.

 

I believe all children are unique and has their own strengths. When they are nurtured and challenged, they are allowed to soar. I look forward to sharing my love of learning and my love of the Lord with your child.

 

One of my favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
