Dr.  Amy McBrayer

Professional Background

I taught high school Physics with Houston ISD for 8 years in my early twenties and have been an adjunct professor with Brazosport College for 2 years. I have four college degrees from: SFASU (B.S.), Grand Canyon U (M.Ed. Secondary Science), Bethany U. (M.A. Missions and Theology), and Liberty University (D.Min. in Theology). My doctoral research and dissertation focused on Angleton Christian School and the students of the class of 2025. ACS gave me opportunity to pilot a World Religions course on Biblical Theology and Cultural Apologetics as part of my research and is now a course elective available for Juniors and Seniors at ACS.

Personal Testimony

I am originally from Angleton and graduated high school from AHS in the early 2000’s. The Lord provided a rich diverse upbringing, from my father growing up in Iran to my grandparents spending more time in Iran, Saudi Arabia and Egypt than being stateside in Texas. I learned to
love all people of different cultures and backgrounds. I accepted Christ for myself at the age of 8 and was baptized when I was 12.

In my early mid-thirties, the Lord radically change the trajectory of my life and opened my eyes to what He was doing right here in the Houston area, bringing many people of different faiths and cultures here. Long story short, the Lord impressed on me to learn Arabic and to learn how to share my faith cross-culturally with those who come predominantly from the Muslim faith. Since then, I have had years of opportunities to speak truth lovingly though relational and friendship-driven evangelism. The Lord has opened doors of opportunity for Gospel conversations with many of my new Muslim friends. My love for the Arab world and for the Arabic language has increased exponentially. The Holy Spirit has gone before me, in more times than I can count, by opening doors once closed and opening hearts of Muslim families once aggressive toward Christians and now willingly listening to the beautiful story of salvation through Jesus.

God loves a Muslim the same, the day before they profess faith in Christ as He does the day after. I know that I want to love them like God does and to take the Great Commission very seriously. My hope and desire for the students at ACS is to educate and equip them how to
share the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ interculturally in their communities, after they graduate at their universities, and for the rest of their lives.

When I am not teaching Physics, Public Speaking, and apologetics to ACS students through the World Religions course, I can be found volunteering as a team lead in Houston with refugees through the organization Houston Welcomes Refugees.

I’m not only a teacher at ACS but also a proud parent of two ACS students. Go Warriors!
